When in 1976, at the Temple of
Hippolytos at Troizen, I felt the beauty, grandeur, and piety of the
ancient past, my transformation was irrevocably begun.
I felt a presence and belonging I had never felt before, and the
remarkable and profound events that followed have brought me new insights,
abilities, awareness, understanding, peace of mind, and confidence.
I have felt the ancient past and was proven correct, I was visited by the
Goddess Hera in a very powerful and intense dream, and I was healed (saved
from death within hours) and shown the future in exact detail when I
called on Hera for help.
For me there are no doubts, but the
question "Why do I want to worship the Gods?" remains. Here are some of
my reasons.
-
I want to worship the gods because
my love for them compels me to do so.
-
I want to worship the gods because
to me they are and at the same time represent the essence and various
natures of the universe.
-
I want to worship the gods because
to me they are accessible in a tangible and demonstrable way.
-
I want to worship the gods because
to me they confirm our current knowledge and encourage an ever greater
search for truth.
-
I want to worship the gods because
to me they demand virtue.
-
I want to worship the gods because
to me evil has no power.
-
I want to worship the gods because
to me I am responsible for my actions.
-
I want to worship the gods because
to me life and what I do in life has far greater value.
When it is time for me to leave, I
believe as Epictetus says: “Is it now Thy will that I should depart from
the assemblage of men? I depart. I give Thee all thanks that Thou hast
allowed me to join in this Thy assemblage of men and to see Thy works, and
to comprehend this Thy administration.” |
